Game developer from Seattle is interested in making a Zombie MMO for consoles. Left for Dead on a grand scale? I'm intrigued. Seems like it would be a worthwhile game to invest some time in if/when it comes out. Can't wait to see some more details.

it would be badass if the game has a hardcore mode. You die once, your fucking dead for good.

 you get two lives. one as a human, one as a zombie. You start out human, killing as many zombies as possible. When you die, you turn into a zombie and then kill as many humans as possible. Once the world ends or all zombies are killed, then the game is over and it resets.

    that actually sounds fucking awesome:bowdown:

I'm actually kindof wondering how this game will work now. What's the fun in running around in a zombie wasteland if you're just going to respawn when you get attacked by a zombie

Thread title made me excited. The word "wii" in the link made me disappointed.

Its not a hard problem to solve. You just make a consequence for dying.

In Everquest if you ever died you lost a significant amount of xp. This made people completely paranoid of dying, especially in a dungeon where you ran the risk of dying multiple times over the smallest mistakes.

It was always hilarious to be in a close fight, sweating your ass off and constantly badgering your group with "Should we run?!? Fight or Run?! Oh shit, were gonna die!" as you make a mad dash for the exit

If you read the article, there's no console pinned down for it. It's one of the many articles on IGN that gets posted on multiple console pages.:hsugh:

I dunno'. L4D seemed like an amazing concept too but it got old really quick. Face it, Zombies are fun to kill. We always get excited to kill them. But then it gets old in less than a week.

The only problem with that is that if you died early, you'd have to wait for months to play again.

I would assume it would have a faster turnover than that, but you do bring up a good point. Making someone wait for more than a few minutes would kill the game. :sad2:

If you consider a typical MMO has 20,000+ people at any given time, it could be a considerable wait before one side completely kills the other.

You'd probably have to break it down into much smaller servers.

Yeah and since it's about survival you know people would be hiding in buildings all boarded up and shit.

Well however they do it, I'd love to play a realistic zombie mmo.

I know, but it would be really cool to do something similar.

You guys are kidding yourselves... it's going to be exactly the same as every other mmo, just with zombies to kill rather than rabbits and it will be even more dumbed down for the console.

I gave up pretending that any innovative / interesting concepts will be adapted into a successful mmo especially on a console.

While probably won't be anything extraordinary, its still intriguing to see how it would turn out.
