You think I should go for more? I haven't shot in years since the Marines. We used to do 1 magazine of 10 rounds with 3 groups of 3, 3 and 4. :dunno: Maybe cause there were so many of us they made it that way :dunno:

Fuck, I hope I used enough loctite on mine. I just applied it on one side of each screw and figured as I screwed in it would distribute evenly :o

Sufficient for a battlesight zero. I assume you're going to do it the Mother Green way, without a rest.

Boot. USMC style, as in offhand, hasty sling, or loop sling.

Don't the marines zero at 25 yards initially?

I don't understand the point of this thread. Are you saying that you are going to the range to zero your AR and you will absolutely only take 10 rounds of ammo in a single mag? WTF? Just take more ammo and use whatever you need to zero it :squint:

Yeah 25 yards.. I'm going to an indoor range. Actually, should it take more than a that to zero in? I will end up using more because I need to zero in my back-up irons and then the scope.

If this is your first time with an AR, it's probably going to take you a lot more than 10 rounds to zero it.

I don't think I've ever taken my ARs to the range and not taken at least 300 rounds. I may not shoot it all, but it sure would suck to be out there and have to call it a day early because I only took a mag or two with me.

Marines use a proportionally reduced Bravo-modified target at 25 yards, to determine the battlesight zero functional from 0-300 yards. The target is specifically laid out on a grid determining how many clicks to wind or elevate.

I'm aware. My point was more that the TS was talking about how they did it in the Marines and only needing 10 rounds, but then saying he was zeroing at 50.

Whether he's doing it the Marine/Army method, the Front Sight method, the Improved Battlesight Zero method, or even sticking a bore sight laser in the muzzle.... he should still take more ammo and it's pointless to ask whether 10 rounds is sufficient.
