Yup, i did a 1RM Deadlift today..new PR

    :squint: Yes, i maxed. I dont care, ill screw up my back...just wanted to see how much i could pull. And yes, i am 5 out 100000 students that deadlift.

    1 rep x 405 lbs (4 - 45lb plates/side)

    It was a slow rep, but i got it up :wavey:

    sans straps? Did i use straps...yes? Is that cheating..usually i do a alternate grip. But since going heavy i thought straps would be OK :o

    :ugh: I've been working out for 2 years...its a working progress if that was twords me. You dont want to be working out for 2 weeks and DL 405...

    straps don't count.

    you moved the weight, which is nice - but do it sans straps next time.

    Can someone tell me what a Sans Strap is...i have no idea what that is... :o

    No, for this rep i used straps. I usually use mix grip though.

    I've been working out for 4 months, and am pulling 365... @ 6'2" skinnyfat 195

    And i KNOW i'm weak as shit.

    gotcha. I bet i could do it with my mix grip i usually use. Time to get out the chalk

    Could someone possibly explain the benefits of not using straps when lifting heavy? Yes, it inhibits grip strength and yes, its kind of cheating..but doesnt it concentrate on the muscle your working on?

    If you aren't doing a beach workout, its pretty hard not to build a strong base :dunno:

    i think the first time i was able to pull 405, i could only do 315 for 7 or 8 :o

    how many of you guys dont use mixed grip for your heavy deads though...
