i recently got a Yugo SKS. took it out to the desert to shoot it. It was jamming like very other shot. You think the mag spring might be weak? it wasnt feeding at all.

Possible. Did you clean all the cosmo out of it before you went shooting?

    Probably the lack of cleaning.
My Yugo doesn't feed HP's that well. Never had a problem with FMJs though.

As the others have said you probably need to spend an hour or two and take the entire gun apart and clean off the gallons of cosmoline that are all over it. I recommend you hose it down with brake parts cleaner annd then lube well. Also be sure you have the gas system turned on and not set for grenade launching.

the SKS is probably still full of cosmoline. I was refering to an incident in which HossB7 got a new Yugoslav Mauser, and it was so full of cosmoline that when you pulled the trigger, there was no snap of the firing pin, just the feeling of something moving slowly through cosmoline.

My Yugo was this bad. I let the whole bolt assembly soak in solvent, then air dried it, then it soaked in WD-40 for a while. The stock, I took a hairdryer to and got the cosmolene to weep out. The rest of the gun was hairdryer/solvent to get the rest of the cosmoline out. I used breakfree (noob oil I know), and now I use ProTech. Never jammed once, or slamfired.
