Windows based phone, I heard terrible things about the 200, i'm hoping they worked the kinks out? Anyways, you're thoughts on it?

On paper it seems like a sweet phone, i'm hoping it'll be my next phone but the cheapest price i see so far is 200 bucks...I ain't paying more than 100.

BTW, I have a Sony Ericcson T616 from ATandT. Think anyone will want to buy it, or should I toss it?

a few things about this phone:

    1. Has been recalled (first batch) due to bad earpiece volume levels that were not adjustable (do not buy from best buy, they recieved the original batch as a 30 day exclusive and did not pull the product once it went bad in most stores)

    2. Takes about 2 mins to load on startup (no its not broken, it just takes that damn long!)

    3. Might be pulled off the shelf in several markets due to low microphone volume. They placed the mike near the charge port and there are lots of complaints about the volume that other people are able to hear you at.

other than those few things, they seem pretty decent. Windows mobile takes a few mins to get used to, but seems pretty cool overall.

Really? Why's that? It's a free phone. Mp3 capability? How is it compared to the V600?

you can play MP3's (listen and as ringtones) but it only has something like 5 or 8 MB of memory, so you can't put many on there. it's better than the V600 in pretty much every department except for the case design, but most end up liking the V551 case after a few days too.

overall function and usability, the mpx220 offers more than the 551. It is a really nice phone. Very sturdy and solid feeling, great display, and windows mobile

    oh, and its not insurable

Anyone know if there's any chance the 220 will go lower than 100 anytime soon???

the MPX220's running .34x firmware (the original batch from Best Buy) are the shitty ones. all the ones at the cingular stores are v1.30 firmware, and that audio problem has been fixed. i just got mine last week. :coold:

That's an understatement. Smartphone >>>>> all others in functionality (except windows mobile-based pda-phones of course)

MPx220 = best bang-for-the-buck smartphone on the current market

The Audiovox SMT-5600 has been getting better reviews from most places I've seen, and it was cheaper through AT&T.

This coming from the person who recommended the V551 above.

Motorola V551...awesome phone. :) MPX220, meh...its up to you but I wouldn't get it. As for your T616, if you don't want it, send it this way, my dad could use a new phone. :)
