I picked one up yesterday after reading a lot of good reviews on it. It's actually pretty neat and is the missing piece of the puzzle in fat loss for me. As long as I log my food properly (which i've already been doing for the past couple years off and on) it'll tell me where i stand in caloric deficit.

For nubs that don't' know anything about eating properly or fitness it looks like it would be really beneficial to them as well with some of the programs the website uses by guiding them to nutrient macros, meal ideas complete w/macros, and exercise plans.

http://www.bodybugg.com shows some videos on how it works.

    ....

if you are already logging your food, you can see if you need to eat less/burn more calories by judging your weight loss

    seems kinda pointless and gimmicky

My very overweight mother used this for awhile and all it did was convince her she was excersizing when she wasn't.

It also didn't help that she would only log the food that looked good to the body bug.

I looked at her account one time and she was constantly in like a 1000 calorie deficit and was never losing any weight.

They're too expensive. You can get polar watches that do the same thing and only cost about 200.00 ( they also include the software)

What do you pay for the subscription? What made you chose that over using fitday and a regular pedometer?

Because the only way to effectively lose weight is for calories in < calories out.

Tracking your calories in is pretty easy using stuff like fitday. If you track calories out you can make specific adjustments to make sure that in/out ratio is more favorable to weight loss.

That being said, the concept is interesting but I am weary of its accuracy and I wouldn't want to wear an arm band all day anyway. It takes more patience, but I like tooling around with diet and exercise and watching how my body responds. I still have a long way to go, but I am getting to the point where I don't even need to track cals (although I still do) because I know what my body needs and when for the results I want.

That's why Pur is so good at what he does. He's has YEARS of experience watching how the body responds to this and that, etc... etc...

OK, I will tell you this bc I used to work at 24 back when I was in school. You just got totally analfisted by an ewok while luke skywalker is jerking it in the bleachers. They are the most inaccurate pieces of shit on the planet. If you want to know what you burn during a workout or beyond take a fucking MAP and RMR test and get a HR monitor.

or you could just adjust calories in based on how your body responds to that particular calorie intake

it's not exactly rocket science, weight loss not sufficient at current calorie intake -> lower calorie intake
