GUN Your SHTF Rifles; Show Them To Me

Discussion in 'On Topic' started by Market Garden, Dec 11, 2008.

  1. We've had plenty of rifle pic threads, but none dedicated to SHTF rifles. I'm just interested in what people have lying around and why they chose it.

I'll go first. I wanted something small and light enough that it wouldn't be a bitch to carry. It had to be reliable and rugged. I didn't want any optics, again for reliability and ruggedness. It also had to be in a common caliber, no Grendel for SHTF. So...

How do you like the MOE stuff? I was going to go with the MOE stock and grip in FDE like that.

I like the grip a lot, I had a MIAD but used with the same back strap and front thingy as the MOE so I decided to sell it and buy a 1-piece. The stock is good too, mine is tight and I can't tell a whole lot of difference between that and the CTR, I didn't think I'd use all of the stuff on the CTR, I just wanted a lightweight stock.

  8. Is the only difference between the MOE and the CTR the thing that helps keep the stock tight, and the little hole behind the adjustment lever?

AK, and for long range shots, my Mosin Nagant which will soon be scoped. Both cheap, but they work just fine.

    needs a light, though

  19. I haven't gotten a chance to fire it with the light yet. It feels really sturdy though, I drilled through the plastic and metal layer and then used the threaded plate that JP uses to attach the rail to their handguard, so the plate is squeezing the plastic and metal together. Other than the plastic and metal breaking, I can't see how it would fail.

It makes a scary shadow of the front site if you turn the light on and point it at the wall.:noes:
