    I have

    15 Fish
    50 1.8 ( want to replace with 1.4)
    24-70L
    24-105L
    70-200L 2.8

    I want

    135L

I have $2000 more to spend. I would get the 300 but its a ton of money and Ill wait to see how the sports thing pans out before I put out that kind of money. Plus, most of the people Id want to shoot for can provide the equipment anyways.

I was thinking 85 1.8 but I kinda think its too close to the 135. Maybe not though...
No EF-s crap. Wont work on either of my cameras.
I like the idea of WA lenses and have also thought about the 16-35 but I dont know how much Id use it.
Currently shoot sports, but am going to try and be a weeding photographers apprentice for a little bit. Its still photography and you can make a ton of money for little amounts of work.

    So any opinions?

maybe its just be, but if i had a 24-70, i wouldnt have a 24-105. yea, IS is nice, but omg the motors might wear out.

all kidding aside, sell the 24-105, buy a used 17-40 and see if you like wide angle, and buy 135.

The 24-70 stays on the 5D and the 24-105 stays on the MkIII. I have a use for both of them and the 24-105 is probably the most used lens I have. I use it every time I go on vacation and as a general walk around lens. Theres no way Im getting rid of it.

I have the 135mm f/2 and I agree with Jhegro, ditch the 24-105 to put towards it. The 135 is incredibly sharp.

I dont need to ditch anything to get the 135. Ive more than enough for it. Infact, Ive got 2000 more. Thats what my question is about.

And Im not ditching the 24-105!

Another walkaround type lens for the other body and something to use in low light. A lot of times, Ill go shoot with my fiancee for fun and shell use that.

Also, I mentioned apprenticing with a wedding photographer...so...yeah...

okay, so this is what i'd do:

2k budget with your lineup of lenses:

    sell 24-70.

    now you have 3k

buy 135, now you have 2.1k

buy 16-35, now you have 500

    buy 50 1.4, now you have 200
    ----------------------------------------------
keep in mind you asked for an opinion, therefore i am giving you mine.
if you are doing weddings, a wide angle is very helpful.

btw, do you have any flashes?

for weddings.. I'd definitely look into the 16-35. I dont think 1.4 vs 1.8 is that huge of a difference, and I'd definitely keep the 24-70.

I dont keep track of canon lens prices, but does this work:

    sell 24-105
    buy 16-35
    buy 135L

It's just what I would do if I wanted to shoot weddings

lol Im saying that AFTER buying the 135, Ill still have 2k. Sorry for any confusion there.

I hear the 16-35 is sweet ... I just dont use WA all that much so Im not sure about dropping that much on a lens Im unsure about using :hs:

Maybe I should just get the 135 and sit on the rest until I figure out something Ill like more.

lol damnit! I dont want to sell the 24-105! But a lot of people (here and other people I talk to) seem to like that 16-35 option :hs:

See, I guess I'm the opposite.. the 24-70 is a good lens, but it's boring. 24mm is JUST outside of cool, and 70mm is just outside of cool. At the wide and tele end of beyond those numbers, you get unique shots past just "what's there".

IMO :dunno: I'd never go to a wedding without something wider than 24

sometimes with weddings you NEED that wideangle to cover a close group shot. gives a great vantage view. dancefloor stuff where theres not much room.

you really cant go wrong with either the 24-70 or 24-105. i just think the overlap isnt all that necessary. choose one or the other.

Im not overlapping them by choice. I had the 24-70 and then picked up the 24-105 5D kit for balls cheap because I got it straight through Canon. It was basically the cost of the cheapest 5D body youll ever find with a 24-105 thrown in for just about free. And like I said, when my fiancee and I go places, we both take pictures and that range is good for walkaround stuff.

I cant find a stroboframe that fits the MkIII :hs: None of the ones at work do at least. I guess I could just use it on the 5D and do available light with the MkIII.

Ah well, thats later down the road.
