    Some love Bose

    Some can't stand Bose speakers..LOL

But for those that like them. Which model speakers are your favorite?

I personally don't care too much for the new stuff by Bose. But i MUST admit. I LOVE the sound of the vintage 501's and 601's

Also, what are your thoughts on the Bose legendary 901's?? Do they really take all of the clean power you can throw at them?

Back then they could handle just about any amp made, but there's a lot of amps around now that could shoot the voice coils out of the cabinets of a pair of 901's.

Generally speaking, they are clever designs that do a great job of letting you hear a similar sound throughout the room.

I would love to take a pair of them and redo them with maybe Dynaudio or Morel drivers.

The 701s from like 10 years ago were actually pretty good. The only thing that pissed me off is that they weren't even magnetically shielded, something that I find unaceptable for a speaker in that price range. A friend of mine still has those in her home theater setup. She won them in a sales contest.

When I worked for bose the 901s that they had on display must had gone through six or seven onkyo stereo receivers.

Then again we used to push them to see which one would give out first. Needless to say the 901's always won.

true, but was the idea to put the speaker next to a tube or a projector setup?

Not quite, but if you were redoing a set, you would redo the crossovers at the same time. My guess is that in the 601's, the tweeters aren't going down all that far anyway.
