What sort of abs workouts do you guys and girls do?

Ive pretty much just started out but my personal trainer has got me doing:

    3 x 25 situps on a swiss ball.

3 x 25 crocodille ab work outs (you lie down and have the swiss ball between your feet and you pass it up to your arms and then back down again).

3 x 25 ab workouts where you have your feet on the swiss ball in a press up type position and you roll the ball up with your feet so that they tuck under your chest.

It seems to be working fairly well so far - only been doing them 4 x a week for 2 weeks but my abs seem to be getting a pretty good workout.

What are some of your plans?

    crunches and leg raises.

For obliques I do twisting crunches, crossing leg raises (made that name up, a better one probably exists).

ive been doing weighted sit-ups / weighted leg raises for a while now... cant complain about obliques / tight hip flexors, but my abs could use a better workout. ive been really wanting to do swiss ball exercises, but want to get tehnique perfect.

like 3 years ago you posted a gif re: ab workouts

it was divided into 4,5 or 6 sections with exercises, including "dragon flys" or whatever. i used to have it but my old HD crashed and i didnt back it up , you wouldnt have any idea what im referring to would you?

Yeah but most people aren't qualified to be doing dragon flags, considering 95% of people don't do a hanging leg raise properly, and dragon flags are more advanced than those.

hanging leg raises are hard to do the way that was demonstrated in the pic of your book you posted. alot more stabilization is required than the "improper" styles... is there anything you reccomend to build up the strength in places like the lower back and etc (don't remember exactly which muscles felt like they were doing the work to stabilize, I tried these like a month ago a few times and that was it) to do these easier?

yea i was wondering about leg raises, do you recruit more of your abs if you

    a) let your body completely hang and then use your pelvic muscles/upper legs to begin the motion to lift up and then do that full motion every time

    b) hard to describe, but raise from your knees and then do a smaller ROM

    c) the right answer

also, as long as we're clarifying this, do you want to curl your lower back at the top of your ROM?

I think the main thing to get is that the back should be rounded and you shouldn't let your upper body hang completely vertically. Hopefully ceaze will post the instructional pic again.

leg raises = hard to do right? i didnt think so... just dont use momentum to swing your legs up, feel the full gravity... and raise as far as u go. burn = doing it right. no burn... well u get it
