    for my bushy carbine.

I need to put my eotech a bit further toward the muzzle to make room for my cheapo magnifier/BUIS. also I'm going to add a vertical foregrip and a light of sort sort. standard stuff.

I am looking at a two piece. should I be looking for a free-float? I have a fixed front sight post, and I was for some reason under the impression a free float tube wouldn't fit over it.

the top rail must be perfectly even with the flat top on my upper, as the eotech will be at the end of the flat top but hanging over unto the quad rail. is this normal, even if it isn't mentioned in the description?

anyway, this is what I have

Midwest Industries Handguard 4-Rail AR-15 Carbine Length Aluminum Black

DoubleStar 2-Piece Handguard 4-Rail AR-15 Carbine Length Aluminum Matte

EOTech 2-Piece Handguard 4-Rail M4/AR-15 Carbine Length Aluminum Matte

they are all the same price, so cost does not matter. whatcha think?

the troy mrf-di screws to itself, and locks up VERY solidly. if you were gonna mount an optic on the rails i'd do it to something like that.

The MI is solid, I have first-hand experience with it.

I have a DD Omega 7.0. I like it. It's a drop-in free float. Others in it's same class are the Troy MRF-DI, previously mentioned.

The DD Omega creates an uninterrupted receiver rail so it would fit the criteria for the EOTech mounting solution you're talking about. I have my Aimpoint's LT150 mount in the forward most recoil grooves so that a small portion of the mount base locks the Omega up solid and at TDC.

well, the eotech mount has its screw near its rear, so it will actually be anchored onto the flat top upper. the front half will be resting on the rail, not attached to it though..

If it was up to me, I would buy a DD Mk18 rail, which is my next purchase. I got the Omega because I needed a drop-in rail right then, and it's what was available.

As it stands, out of the three you linked, I would only purchase the MI rail. The other two are most likely big pieces of shit.

    Yes.

How far forward are you going to mount this thing? Do you have the EOTech on a mount or will you just be mounting it directly onto the receiver?

I just re-read your first post. If you get a 7" free float rail, it will be right behind where the handguard cap is currently. You could do something like a LaRue 7.0 or a DD Lite 7.0 or a DD M4 rail, all of which are hot as fuck.

You need access to armorer's tools to install a free floating rail though.

Here's a terrible picture of my ugly rifle.

It's a good example of how you can do what you're asking with the DD Omega 7.0.

It will only protrude no more than 2 or 3 inches onto the handguard rail I think.

yeah, I definitely don't think I need a free float for this build. I have a 20" rifle length upper on order from cmmg, and I'll keep these things in mind for that.

Could get a shitty rail that's not to spec with a slightly taller 12 o'clock rail and it would make the mating surface not flat enough to mount the EOTech.

true. which is why i dont buy shit products :mamoru:

  20. Be careful bridging between the receiver and the rail. If the alignment is even a few thousands off, it'll cause all sorts of issues with the sight.

I've got a Troy. It's made of metal, and it's a rail, it lets me attach things to it.

The Magpul MOE handguard would work if you don't need all those rails. Just put them where you need them.
