Mine and make an attempt on the other one. Then we all die.

That's the right answer isn't it? :dunno:

    That depends...
is the step kid a minority?
Am I in a red state or a blue state?

Is one of the kids retarded, and if I neglect to save that kid will Sarah Paulin find out?

Understandable. I don't get what it is that makes people want to give others impossible situations and have them guess their actions. There's no way you could know what you'd do.

The simple probability of getting into this situation is also mind numbingly ridiculous.

Why not just ask a straightforward, "Would you choose the life of your own child over that of one who did not share genetic material with you?"

Why convolute it into this unrealistic scenario?

I save the step-kid. I am a responsible parent and my kid can swim like a fucking fish. Of course, when I had a step-daughter, when we got custody of her she was as round as she was tall, so she probably would have floated.

Took care of that pretty quickly, with healthy eating and some good positive attention and proper physical exercise every day. Dropped the weight, gained some self-esteem and turned out pretty nicely.

You save the kid closest to the shore.

At least that's how you remember it in your mind, as you flail your way to safety, with your genetic offspring in tow.

I guess the only real answer is to pull up a chair, grab a beer and watch who learns to swim first.

    What a fucked-up scenario.

I go with the first answer: save my kid, then go after the step-kid.
