Piece together a PC for $2000. Does not need monitor, keyboard, mouse, or speakers. Prices and links to prices would be well appreciated. :bigthumb:

Personally, I see a lot of frivolous spending there:

$207 for case+ PSU? I just looked at that case and it just looks :greddy: He didn't say he was looking for e-ego

This is what I'd go with
Case+PSU Antec SLK 1650(click here) $77 shipped Newegg

Does he really need a $430 video card for casual gaming?

    For the optical drives...
These days, if you get a DVD +/- RW drive, it will do DVD +/- R, RW & CD-R, RW and the need of second drive is rather low. Dual drive used to be the thing when CD-RW and DVD-ROM drive was separate.

each drive = 36gb only. theyre SATA drives.. but that machine is strictly a gaming machine that can own doom 3 like theres no 2morrow all the new games are graphics heavy and this card will last him a while.

designed to be a great gaming system for the price and will last for years to come.

Buying the highest end to plan out for the later year to come never saves money with computers, because the difference between mid class and high end isn't too different performance wise, but exponentially higher price wise.
