I've got an outdated computer right now, and want to get a new one. But I could probably reuse several parts from my old comp.

If anyone with good PC knowledge knows which parts I should upgrade while keeping the budget low, list your ideas here. I want to be able to run next-generation games like Doom3 or CS:S

    Parts available:

Intel 850 MD Chipset p4 ATX MB
    Intel P4 1.5 Ghz CPU
    2 x Kingston RD64MB PC800 RamBus
    2 x Kinston RD 128MB PC800 RamBus
    Panasonic 1.44MB floppy drive
    Quantum AS40GB Hard Drive 7200RPM ATA100
    16" CUSTOM P4 ATX Case w/300W PS
    PC GF2 32MB AGP
    Aopen 107 Keyboard PS/2
    AOPEN WHeel Mouse PS/2
    Aopen 52X IDE CD-ROM
    LG 48X24X48 CDRW
    OB AC97 AUDIO
    Aopen speakers with build-in amp
    AOC 17" 0.27 Monitor
    D-LINK TX-538 10/100 PCI

Try doing this while keeping cost below $1000 CDN ($770 USD).
    Thanks for the input!

Assuming your current cpu is socket 478(which it should be), get a new mobo based on the 865 chipset for ~$120, 1gb of ddr for $225 and a 6800 GT for ~$550. Reuse the existing cpu, hard drive, case, should probably throw in a new power supply for the video card too, figure about $100 for something decent from Antec like the true power 380. You'll be much further ahead on buying a new cpu than getting raped on buying more ram for your existing system, rdram is the devil.
Should come to about $975 plus tax and shipping. Only 1 tax unless you live in BC, then you get hosed on both if you buy the gear from www.ncix.com.

i was just offered 375 CDN for my old system which I jsut listed...I can then get a brand new one for about 1440, minus the 375 I get back it comes to about 965 including tax and shipping.
heres the parts I would be getting

    $135 Asus P4P800-SE S478 865PE Chipset 800Mhz FSB 1AGP8x/5PCI/4DDR, w/Sound Gigabit Lan SATA Raid USB 2.0 ATA-100
    (2x?) $99 512MB PC3200 400Mhz 184pin DDR (Samsung)
    $195 ATI Radeon 9600 XT 128MB DDR AGP8X w/S-Video & DVI-I OEM
    $237 Intel® Pentium® P4 2.8E - 800MHz FSB Retail (1MB Cache)

    $69 18" (1347-SEL) Blue Beam Case w/Transparent Side Panel 2xFan 400W P4 PS USB 2.0
    $92 Western Digital WD800JB 80.0GB 8MB HD
    $9 Windows 107-key PS2 keyboard
    $12.99 Logitech Optical Mouse BJ58 (OEM)-Blue
    $155 AOC 17" FT700 .25 1280x1024 (Flat)
    $57 Logitech X-220 32W 2 Speakers w/subwoofer

I think I'll do that instead.
Any thoughts as to what parts I should change up?
