i use a 8x10 greay card that has 1/3 black, 1/3 grey, and 1/3 white. This is all I use for white balance and exposure. works great.

My lab sent it to me for free.

I use a white card, but I've been meaning to switch to a whibal card for a while now.

We use gray scale (18%) and chip charts cards to check exposure when we need to be uber critical.

what's the benefit of a whibal versus a regular 'ol gray card?

other than the fact (that i learned from the video) that you can tell when it's 'glaring' by the black sticker?

What do you use the gray card for? How do you use it to check exposure?

The only time I ever use custom WB is if I have a white background like in product photography. Then I just take a picture of the white background and use that.. I do havea white balance card though that came with a book that I bought.. Just haven't used it yet :o
