I have been lurking OTAP for a long time now, throughout highschool i dabbled with a pentax ist SLR and i have spent a lot of time reading and determining if i can justify dumping some cash into a solid DSLR setup.
So i come here looking for more information about lenses, my first camera was a birthday gift when i was 15 and i only used the kit lens, so i am curious as to where i can find a good read about the differences in lenses.
and ultimately my main question is...what does the, i am assuming, acronym VR stand for on a lens?

Aside from this learning i am still doing, i am curious as to what recommendations OTAP would make for lenses to have, i am committed to purchasing a used d80 and have been scouring and trying to figure out what glass i should be looking for, or if i should purchase body only and then aquire the glass.

i would really appreciate some knowledge hand outs.
    Thanky :bigthumb:

your lens choice depends entirely on the setting and subject.
in my opinion for general use a 35mm is very standard. its pretty close to how the eye sees things.
