Teen accidentally shot in eye, police say

    By CLAY CAREY
    Staff Writer

An east Nashville teen was accidentally shot in the eye this afternoon while playing with a loaded rifle, police said.

The 16-year-old boy was transported to a Nashville hospital following the shooting, which occurred in a home on the 800 block of Fatherland Street at about 1 p.m. today, Metro Police Capt. Rich Foley said.

Foley said the 16-year-old and a 15-year-old were apparently playing with a .22-caliber rifle when the gun went off.

The boy who was shot remained in the hospital Saturday, but he is expected to live. Foley said it was “rather miraculous” that his injuries were not life-threatening, since he was shot in the eye at close range.

As of Saturday afternoon, no charges had been filed in connection with the shooting, though detectives were still investigating, Foley said.

Police have not released the identity of either boy involved in the accident. It was unclear Saturday afternoon whether there were adults inside the home when the gun went off.

see .22 is not a sufficient zombie caliber, if it doesn't kill the living how can you expect it to kill the dead.

I have no idea why that reminded me of this.

My high school history teacher had this theory that every time in history a battle starts because "a shot suddenly rang out" a midget named irving shicklegruber snuck in and pulled a trigger while no one was watching.
