They weren't police, they were cadets still in POST which is there not only to train but to weed out the screwups. Sad that kids these days would even consider cheating on an exam in the academy though, guess it's the sign of the times.

Personally, I wouldn't want a job for which I was not qualified. I don't understand lying or cheating to get a job.

The recruits were county employees training to become sworn police officers. They were in the fifth week of a 22-week training period required to join about 600 officers on Cobb's police force, where salaries start around $34,600.

$35k...OUCH. You can teach middle school students here and make more. And Oakland's POs can start at $70k.

And a house in Oakland costs twice as much as one in Atlanta. Do you see a trend?

NYPD starts out a bit less then that, 32.5k I think. Meanwhile cops in my county (right next to nyc) make twice that.

It's fairly clear that if no one had a copy of the previous exam or knew of its contents, they just helped each other answer the questions.

I would think a big urban city would need to pay their cops a little more.

But Bay Area housing is just fucking inflated. I dont think the cost of living is half of Oaklands. Do their teachers start at $19k a year?
