Guy at a local paint/cleaning supplies said this hard plastic yellow sponge will take the bugs off the car, without removing the wax, and without harming the paint. Its really hard and rough. It softens a very little bit when wet. I have a hard time believing that it won't harm the paint. Anyone ever seen this before? What is it called?

I guess if you don't mind scratching the hell out of your paint, go ahead and use it. Guys at paint supply stores are the last people to ask about car care.
