I just purchased an XTI, but I'd prefer at times to shoot photos through the LCD display.

Is there a way to take photos through the LCD display or do I have to use to eye piece to shoot all photos. If so how?

Yeah, my Nikon D80 is the same way. If you're new to SLRs, don't worry, you'll get used to it.

Now I can't stand using the LCD on my p&s camera. And the eyepieces on p&s's suck something awful.

sounds like you shoulda done some research before you bought a dslr.

you probably need a Zigview S2 Eyepiece Adapter

Ouch! I couldn't find the price, but I thought it would be a lot less.

Do they have eye piece extenders?

D300/D3 and Canon 1D MkIII/1Ds MkIII all have live view on them also. Its an ok feature to check focus but other than that, I never use it.

Its something people want for some ghey reason though so I suspect all the new cameras that come out will have it as an option.

I love when people buy DSLRs and then wonder why they can't take photos using the LCD.

The whole point of an SLR is to be able to use the viewfinder to look through the lens.

If he can't use an entry-level SLR, because it doesn't use the LCD, there's no way he needs a prosumer camera. :o

Shooting auto all the time on a 40D with Live View ftl
