I have two computers on my network that i'm trying to lock down a little tigher. As of right now, i have the access control list set to full control for only the user i want. (i have the same user/pass on each pc). using this, i can access shares from one computer or the other.

unfortunately this is only half of what i really want to accomplish.

i have a work laptop, where my user/pass is different thatn my two home pc's. using the laptop, i can see the shares... but i get the following error message.

i know that i should be able to have it setup similarly to what i currently have... but where my laptop would be able to login using the user/pass on my desktops (where that user has access to the share, obviously). i guess i'm either missing something along the way... or i'm retarded and XP Pro cant do what i want (and i'm confusing it with server 2k3.)

any help or suggestions are appreciated.

From what I've tried, XP Pro cannot do what you're trying to get it to do.

File sharing is severly limited when you're only using a workgroup.

    It's possible with a workgroup.

I don't know how to set it up in Windows though, I've only set it up through Samba.
