Xp or Vista?

    My new computer parts are coming in and was wondering if I should go XP or Vista I will be getting an 8800GT so I don't want to miss out on dx10 graphics but don't want to do it either if it is too unstable still any tips?

    Vista runs fine here... I think it comes down to personal preference.

    I have 2gigs of ram so probably 32 right? I don't even know the difference between the two

    Use 32-bit Vista.

    The problems were pretty much the usual: bullshit and user errors.

    vista is fine. it isn't great, but it is current and it is fine.

    I'm running Ultimate. I use it mainly for media center.

    If you go vista, the biggest pain in the ass is UAC, or user access control. It can be disabled in the security centre. There's also a setting in there to change that pertains to how windows notifies you about security related stuff.
    Just make sure to get SP1 on there before you do too much. Drivers, SP1 then the rest of your stuff.

    When I bought my laptop a couple weeks ago with Vista, first thing I did was disable the UAC & enabled the auto logon.

    After using Vista for a while, it's not really that bad. However, I do prefer XP Pro over Vista for now. Just takes a while to get used to Vista.

    I don't like Vista very much, I will consider it when DX10 becomes useful, but until then I will continue my XP and ubuntu ways.
