I'm trying to install XP on a new build. This is the first time that I am only using a sata hdd. I get the following error right after creating a partion for XP:

"An error occored while Setup was updating partition information on:
381552 MB Disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 on viamraid [MBR]."

    Asus P4V8X-MX board
    Western Digital SATA drive

    Anyone have any input?

Just curious but did you hit F6 at the beginning and install the SATA drivers.\?

Yep. Just downloaded and installed the latest bios rev also. Looking to see if there were any changes in the sata driver revs that I missed.

I think that the problem is bios setting related because I do not have any sata drive options shown in the bios under the main tab.

I've had all kind of Asus stuff and never had any issues :dunno:

I'm pretty sure that the issue is something that I don't have correct. I'm only using one sata drive, but everything seems to want to make it into a raid? I don't have any experience with sata or raids.

I was pulling the raid drivers from the wrong place. Everything is working fine now that I got the raid drivers from the MB driver CD.
