Have a computer that came w/ XP Home. Bought an XP Pro Upgrade CD.

I want to redo the computer, so, do I wipe it out, install XP Home from the eMachines discs. Then re-upgrade. And if I do so I won't have problems w/ the "key" thing on the XP Pro upgrade will I? It's already been registered, activated... can it be redone?? What should i Do?

Also on a side note. If one changed the setupp.ini file's Pid from Retail to Volume/Corp. Lic. version, will that avoid this problem and allow a fresh install from scratch??

    Thanks!

You can use the xp pro cd to do a full install, but it will want proof of ownership of the other operating system, usually the xp home restore cd will work fine.
