I recently reinstalled and windows says my antivirus needs updated definitions. They are fully updated. Also a weird thing, when i shut down or restart the antivirus kinda stops responding for a second and the end program box comes up for a fraction of a second.

I am using symantec, and windows xp pro fully updated.

I have tried reinstalling the anti virus 3 times and keeps doing the same thing.

I have used it for many years and have never had this problem before.

    Any help?

Found your problem. I would say format and reinstall windows and leave symantec off this time. I would suggest using AVG, Avast or TrendMicro. The first two are free.

I love how MS claims mine are out of date during the installation process...
