My nephew goes off to boot camp in January.

Id like to give him some stuff that would be useful when he goes.

Please give me some ideas for stuff to get him..

    Thanks!

Boot camp is pretty restricted; he will have a list and they are pretty darn serious about limiting the stuff you bring to that list (some branches are a tad more lenient than others).
Maybe a new address book with everyone's info and a book of stamps or pre-addressed postcards.

Best to wait until he hits his schools.

a watch that he can screw up and won't care about. preferably walmart brands.

don't buy him something nice until after boot, he'll need a watch in school.

He will most likely have to wear what he is issued.

something with rubber/cloth straps. one that will fall apart if he gets it caught on something, safety issue. maybe some kind of Timex Ironman type watch.

I wore my Timex Gunmetal expedition watch all the way through basic... :hsd:

    Mind you, I'm AF...

But probably a cheap-ish watch. If my crystal hadn't already been cracked, I would have been more upset because all of the crawling around in the dirt/mud/water definitely scratched it up a little.
