    My new deck is "Sirrus ready" (well, after I spend another few hundred $$$ to buy the tuner)...anyway...

    What are the key differences/benefits/drawbacks of XM versus Sirrus?

    Thanks

    edit: deck is a panasonic 983

    Isn't Sirrius supposed to broadcast a shitload of NFL games next year too?

    Only matters if you like football I guess.

    As of Feb 1, XM is commercial free. The only real difference is price.
    XM = $9.99/month
    Sirius = $12.99/month (?)

    There are significant differences in the programming as well. It depends on what you like. Go to both websites and review the programming.

    You will be happy with either one, I guarantee it.

    How is XM, as a service, demonstrably better than Sirius?

    Not same programming. If you sign up for a year at a time, Sirius costs less than XM.

    I would never pay for radio, and with FM/AM HD coming out in the next 6 months, I wouldn't expect anybody but the most hardcore commuters (ie 4+hrs/day) to need XM or Sirius.

    Sirius is the way to go.

    Right now if you have a sirius ready deck if you buy the sirius antenna you can get a sirius tuner box for free, Its a 177.00 dollar savings. here is the link.Free sirius tuner

    Sirius is less compressed than Xm, Sirius has More sattelites around the us Xm has 3 over texas. Plus if you have hi speed internet you can listen to them over there site.

    And Alpine, Sony,Pioneer All offer XM but they had a spat and quit making the tuner boxes. So try and find 1.

    I think the 177.00 savings is worth the 3.00 dollars a month over xm, Andi tried out xm and i lost them everywhere, Sirius i have no issues with.And no i dont work for sirius, I just sell them.

    While Sirius may be less compressed until very recently most reviewers thought XM's sound quality was better. Sirius did just start using a different/tweaked form of their compression software which is supposed to be a big improvement.
