So I'm making a spreadsheet to track 8 guys picks for winners of each week.
It's a pick'em (no spread involved) pool.
If there are 16 games, each game is given a score/weight (1-16; no number can be used twice) and if you pick correctly, you get that amount of pts if you pick wrong you get a zero for that game (perfect week = 136 PTS)
The spread sheet will consist of the following:
A1 = Week1 games
B1 = Week1 winners
C1 = Player1 pick
D1 = PTS wagered

My question: Is there an equation that I can use to automatically add the number of PTS Won in column D2-17 (if player pick in C1 is same as winner in B1 then pts in D1 = amount wagered / if not then D1 = 0) to be calculated as a sum in D17. ????????????????

Damn. I just read what I typed... I need another beer

Man this is confusing.

To add the the numbers in D2-17 use:
=sum(d2:d17)
in the cell to display the total

To have a D cell represent the logic you describe use:
=if(c1=b1, cell_holding_points_wagered, 0)
you have to have the point wagered stored somewhere in your spreadsheet then replace cell_holding_points_wagered with that cell address.

For a listing of formulas, you can look under Insert | Formula, then select logical. For the if statement the prototype says:
=if(logical_test, value_if_true, value_if_false)

So my suggestion above would display the points wagered if they picked the winner, or 0 if they didn't.

That's the best I can do with your original post which is very confusing.
