anybody got a plow on their xj? how well does it work and how much can i plan on spending for a used plow rig. shoveling snow sucks.

I don't because I don't know what snow is, but i'm sure a few over on NAXJA have done it.

Storing the plow when you don't need it will suck more, I think. I know it snows a lot in Upstate, but for the money you'll spend you could hire a guy to plow your driveway for you about 50x.

im just thinking about how the unibody will hold up to the abuse of plowing and all that, storage wont be a problem for me. It seems people over on NAXJA dont think its a good idea to plow with an xj because of the unibody...and yeah the cost of a plow and frame will run me over 1000 new but i'd like to see if i could find one used and maybe plow some driveways for some cash. it might be a nasty winter

Not just the unibody, how well will the front suspension hold up to the weight?

All things factored in, IMO get a snowblower.

But yes, it should be a nasty winter.
    Finally. :)

There was recently a guy with a plow for an XJ for sale here... he wanted $1k for it firm... I would assume you can expect to spend around that. And I've seen lots of XJ's with plows on them (I'm in Canada) and they never SEEM to have any problems... and front end doesn't look like it squats as much as a half-ton does...

im from indiana and spent some time in chicago as well and have seen several XJs with front plows. as long as you dont go overboard, then it should be fine. i saw a sweet one in an online magazine, electric hydolic pump was in rear, w/ a front fully cab controlled blade, would be nice, not gettign out of your car to adjust pitch [falls into dream world]

the xjs i saw didnt have any problems with it
