I'm in the market for a new handgun. I recently sold off all of my firearms and am now in the process of building a new, nicer collection. I would like to own all 4 of the afore mentioned handguns. I will be carrying it occasionally, which would you recommend from personal expirence? Does anyone have expirence with all 4? I have held and fired all except the xd. This gun will be complementing my bushmaster shorty that I will soon be getting :big grin:

If you're looking at a .40 do NOT get a Walther.

Off that list, my favorite would be the P229. It just melts into my hand and is comfortable enough for concealed carry with just a bit of effort. i'd buy a .357SIG barrel for it too. :yum:

The USP40 and the XD40 would be tied for second place choice, but i'd probably get the USP40 first.

Ditto what Kellyclan said, but I would also look at the glock 23/22. Walther in 9mm is good too, as well as all the above mentioned guns in 9mm. I would go with 9mm above .40 anyway since the stopping power is the same with both rounds, and ammo is much cheaper.

Well i'd recommend the xd because thats what I purchased given the same exact choices. Although my list also included the glock. My choice came down to the sig p229 and the xd-40. I shot both really well, with a slight edge to the xd. And the xd was cheaper. I was sold on it. Not to short change the sig, I love the p229, and everytime i go to the range, I rent it. I'ts a great gun, the only downside I have with it personally is the grip. It seems really thick to me, but it might just be that the range gun has hogue grips on it. I've never shot one with factory grips. I will own one someday, it will probably be my next handgun purchase. Good luck :)

/edit: Oh and i really didnt consider the USP, I was looking at the USPc. I think that it is a better compairison to the other guns you are considering. Have you looked at the compact?

I have also considered the uspc.. so many choices... not enough money to buy them all right now.

Yeah, I've got the hogue grips on my 228 and it definitely feels a little "fatter" then it does with the factory grips.

It looks like I'm going to pick up the sig :big grin: Just not sure what I want as far as caliber... It's more of a "fun" gun than anything. But doubles as home defence and ccw.

You won't be dissapointed, unless you can't get used to the sa/da transition.

Can do no wrong with the CZ either. :wiggle:

But i prefer the way the SIG sits in my hand. Individual decision there.

negative. 9mm is nowhere near 40 smith. Read the book "stopping power" you can find it on amazon.

From what I've heard, 9mm doesn't penetrate cars, yet .40 does, i believe it was for this reason that SWAT(?) (or something like it) switched to from 9mm to .40.
