you may want to check this out. A guy on xdtalk.com had a problem with his locking block. I looked at mine and it has the same problem.

Looking at it, you wouldn't notice anything. Then I squeezed the ends.

You can see lines coming from each corner where it's cracked. From what I've read, SA has newer locking blocks with the corners drilled out to relieve the stress from the corners.

Hows SA's customer service? Maybe you can send it in and get it upgraded/fixed/refurbed.

Is the problem specific to calibers? How many rounds have been fired before this shows up. I got about 500 rounds thru my XD40 so this makes me wonder.

It seems that the majority are XD40's. No problems noted so far with the SC's since, from what I've heard, they have different locking blocks. I have about 1000 rounds but one person noticed a crack after 400 rounds while another noticed he has a crack with 5000 rounds through his gun.

I trust SA will fix this problem. One sent his gun and and had it fixed in about a month under warranty.

over 5000 rounds through both my 40 Service and 9 SC. no cracks on either even with the Corbon P+ ammo.
Called SA anyways and they said if it happens, send it in and they will have it fixed and back to me in about 2 weeks.

If you want a Glock, sell me your XD cheap and I will send it in and have it fixed for free and have 2 XD40's :)

I am not anti-Springfield, or anti-XD, but after taking a quick browse through the hs2000talk general XD forum, I'm glad I went with Glock over the XD. Sure, I read about problems with glocks on glocktalk, but damn, it seems like those XD's have a lot of problems. Cracked locking blocks, rusting slides, broken guide rods.

No cracks or rust or broken guide rods for me. All of those problems are very rare.... the rust is just a matter of maintenance. The other two problems only happened to a handful of guys on hs2000talk.
