hate to say it, but i found rust on my XD45 ACP today. on the slide lock, slide release lever, and the chamber loaded indicator. is this warrantyable by SA?

Just soak it in a bucket of salt water overnight and it should be fine.

Those small parts probably aren't treated with the meloiteifer or whatever the kids are calling it these days.

face it....glock has a leg up on SA when it comes to metal finishes
I just started carrying my s&w snubby on a regular basis and i didnt think to dab a drop of protectant oil on the cylinder release....a few days later guess what? i got a lil orange hue on it....some oil fixed it but just shows ya...ya gotta keep ur carry guns maintained cuz they ARE being exposed to less than ideal environments especially when carried IWB

covered under warranty although try wiping the parts off first.
and you are right, XD doesn't compare to Glock. grip angle is different, XD is a true single action.

I've said it a million times and I'll say it again. I have no trouble with my XD. I carried it all last weekend in the 90°+ temperatures and humidity that was hardly bearable. I just wipe it down with a silicon rag at night and it's fine. If you take care of it, it'll be fine.

I love it, anything that happens to an XD = you didn't take care of it.

Perhaps, just maybe, they have shitty finishes?

Never said exactly the same, I just think its a step from from the previous XD's even though I never had a problem with my XD40 with rust

I think the whole idea of taking care of your gun is just in case shtf, you know that your gun wont let you down.

XDs have done quite well in real honest to god SHTF situations. :)
as for rust, just buy a silicone gunrag from Walmart in the hunting section and wipe off the crud once or twice a week. They are a couple bucks and that's what they are designed for, to wipe off firearms after use to keep moisture, sweat, dead skin and other crap from building up and creating a place for rust and other gunk to accumulate.
