I turn 21 on monday and am going to be buying an XD 3" 9mm :)

I was looking for some recommendations on what holsters are best, as the one that comes with it probably isn't the greatest (am I right?)

I'd like to get one for IWB carry and one for outside as well..

Any ideas? I'd probably carry around 3:30

I have a XD9SC and originally bought a Comp-Tac CTAC and didn't really like it. It wasn't as comfortable to me as people made it out to be. So with a bit of research, I bought my current holster which is a Threat Solutions UCR. It is IWB, all kydex, and cheaper than the CTAC. It is by far the most comfortable IWB I have tried. :bigthumb:

It's not a very pretty holster, but who's gonna see it.

    Check it out @ www.threatsolutions.com

try the comp-tac. i have a ctac and have no complaints. if they have the infidel out for XD i would give that a shot instead. its not much money, and if you like it, its a really solid and sturdy holster.

The "best" one is the one that works for your body. Be prepared to buy 3 or 4 different kinds before you find something you like. I have also found that just be you like a holster from a certain company, doesn't mean you will like a holster from that company for a different gun. For nice holsters and fast it's hard to beat Comp-Tac. Blade Tech also makes good stuff. For Blade Tech, check into the Sting Ray belt holster. I have found that the regular belt from them are unstable...or not as stable as the wide loops on a Comptac. Stay away from the shirt tucker styler holsters..and for fucks sake don't get a CTAC.

    :fawk:Furner.

Also, get a glock 19 instead of an XD.

thanks for the input :) It seems most holsters are designed for the 4" models though, and not many for the 3". Are they compatible?

I don't think it will be a problem. I like longer holster for IWB.

it CAN be a problem. you CANNOT put any 4" XDs in the 3" holsters. The layout of the gun is different. But you CAN put 3" XDs in 4" holsters pretty well. the retension isnt as good, but it works pretty well. I have a paddle holster that came with a 4" XD that I cut down to fit a 3" pistol and it works perfect.

Right, I kinda like the length of a 4" holster with a 3" gun. It stays in the pants a little better when doing stuff like getting out of the car.

they can have trouble with the retention system which will cause them to become stuck in the holster. Read some bad stuff about them.

Eek! I wouldn't want that to happen.

There's so many different styles of holsters it's ridiculous. And what's a paddle and a pancake holster? :hs:

I think it's turned into an internet myth. I've "heard" bad things and also heard people badmouthing them. But a few people I train with have been using them without any issues.

Yeah but just because something works for a single class doesn't mean it's worth a shit.

Thats why the UBG holster IMO is better less wait for a product very similar to a watch six.
