Got my latest order in from www.pistol-gear.com today. This XD subcompact is one of, if not the best CCW weapon I have ever carried.

It now holds 14 rounds, has pearce grip extension with pachmayr grips and sports the XML flashlight. Just need to send it off for a set of night sights and a coating/melting job from M&R and it's pretty much finished. Last thing to decide on is either an Answer or a C-TAC holster.

You plan on carrying with the XML? I didn't they had a holster that would fit it.

they have a couple IWB holsters that fit the XD with the XML on but I got the separate holster from Fobus for it instead.

I like it so far, it isn't padded on the sides like Hogue, which I hate. The rod/springs from Don's work great for the 4" and 5" but due to the shortness of the SC model, they don't make it for the 3". There hasn't been any issues with the 2 spring/captive system from XD though, so don't really see the need to replace it other than to eliminate 2 potential failure polnts.

I think they are a different weight of spring to give your gun different characteristics which I dont know I will probably leave well enough alone.
I might get the grip for the XD.. and since I have the Taurus now I dont really have anything to upgrade on that

you can get different weight springs with the replacement Tungston rod. I will add one to my Tactical when I start on it.

that is what those different weight springs are on that page. I am not sure what is special about the Rod.

I am thinking of saving to have some money to get a replacement barrel to shoot either 357 sig or 9mm out of my .40

the rod is harder than the factory and is a solid 1 piece instead of the captive system. Less pieces to worry about :)

It is still a captive system, it says on the site the retaining washers are included so its going to be the same setup.
