this may be the wrong subforum, but It can be moved.

I'm looking at taking my old xbox and turning it into a NAS outlined in this link:

    http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/nas/nas-howto/24213-howtoxboxnaspt1

has anyone done this and have tips?

also does anyone know where i can get a Cromwell duox-2 mod chip? I can't find anywhere thats out of stock, expensive, or doesn't take paypal.

Ban for what? (I'm new I honestly don't know)

you're not NAS'ing a Tiny drive you put another drive in as well.

I have no interest in doing anything Illegal with it, I just want to put my old xbox to good use instead of let it sit around and do nothing.

the article is from 2005, back when the xbox was popular. i think you will have a hard time finding a modchip for it. find some popular modding forums and ask around to see what they recommend.

in for that website later :o

Wouldn't an Xbox based NAS be a bit noisy and use more power than needed?
