Anyone have any vids of people using the x guard in mma?
I haven't seen it, but I have seen the rubber guard being used more effectively in the last year
nate marquart (or however you spell it) uses like a double X guard in one of his ufc fights to sweep his opponent. I think it can be done if you are smart about it, but then again its also probably better to have crazy strong takedowns/takedown defense.
I thought that was a sweep from the butterfly guard, I was just watching that fight an hour ago
I'll find the GIF
couldn't find the GIF, here are some screencaps I made
I use it a lot in sparring and not against chumps, but I have long legs and go straight to a sweep or kneebar. You don't want to stop. As soon as you get in, extend and off-balance.
It's been working if I can get them in X-guard.
Do you have any screencaps between these two? I can't quite tell if he has the double xguard or not.
I thought it was a butterfly sweep, am I wrong?
It looks like a tripod sweep, but he's grabbing the wrong ankle.
what about Diego sweeping Koscheck?
Thats a butterfly sweep.
wtf lurker in my backyard
what is a double x guard? i did a quick search on google and only saw x guard stuff.
nobody in this thread is aware of what x-guard looks like
check out my jiu jitsu in mma #1
jake shields uses the closest thing to x-guard i have seen in mma
I know it as same grip with arm, but both feet have the same hook so both knees are in front of his body instead of just one. Both legs are spread apart with tension like butterfly guard. If your knees come together you're screwed.
Fuck no. I use X not double x.
placebo.. you still coming to LA? I gotta bring you to this taco place
ive never heard of "double" x-guard
i dont really get what youre saying it is.
x-guard by definition is when you have both hooks on the same leg
He's new to bjj. Leave him alone.
That's the plan sir. And I'm going to san fransisco for 73. If you can make it to the area, I've got some very cool things going on that weekend so let me know and I'll have you come.
no. im not going to san francisco.. you come to MY city.
