i went to walmart the other day to buy the usual.
walmart has the best, the fattest and juiciest granny smith apples according to my experience.
as i started placing the apples in the bag i noticed the price was 1.48 a pound? :ugh:
eh no thanks, so i put them back!
    wtf

I always thought Walmart had the worst fruit (and vegetables and meat) ever. Have you tried a local farmer's market?

i'm in orlando and i've tried just about every market around here from publix, winndixie to bj's and costco. walmart seem to have the best fruit and prices.

i was just use to paying .95 +/-
i would prefer to go someone else for my fruit

You're going to pay more in gas to get to your cheap fruit than the price difference!

I always laugh when I hear this. Depending on what you drive, how far away the next grocery store is, and how much fruit you buy it may be worthwhile to go to another store ;)

I pay a lot of money for fruit and veggies now because I only buy organic. They really rape you, but I'm scared of the antibiotics and pesticides.

1.48 a pound is decent for apples lately :hs:

I've also noticed a real decline in the freshness of stuff on the shelves..i think people are stocking up farther in advance and not refreshing stock as often because of transportation. I've been eating nothing but frozen veggies because of it- the spinach at Publix/Albertsons lately has been incredibly wilted.

walmart is THE worst place to buy produce. all of their selection is bruised, wilting shit-fruit that is probably given to them cheaply because no other grocery store would sell it, and walmart has no problem selling it super cheap.

Safeway has the best produce IMO, if you have one in your area I recommend it. I love friuts and veggies :yum:

I used to LOVE going to the farmers market with my parents when I was little, I lived in Minnesota, true farm country. Now I live and AZ and have never even looked for a farmers market, anyone know of any here in the valley?

I don't know how up to date this list is but you can also check your local cities website.

i know the difference between a market and a grocery store.
    sorry for not clarifying.
it's just the caribbean in me.
when grandma tells you to go to the market and pick up some bread.
she meant go around the corner to the gas station and pick up some wonder bread. :hsd:

    thanks for this list.
i found one no more than a mile away. :coolugh:
