I post an ad every day on CL (yeah I know....it's CL but I've made over 10K from CL weddings) and have never had any issues. Now all of a sudden, I'm being bombarded with emails that all have the same message, usually "what's your website?" or "Hi, I'm a business student and as part of our yada yada yada" All the emails seem to to be advertising the same fucking thing, ie remailer or auto posting service. How can I get these assholes to stop emailing me this shit? I get at least 10-15 of these everyday.

Setup an email filter to automatically delete those emails. You'll never see them.

Someone learn me how to do this in Entourage. I need a way to selectively filter a specific remailer.

:squint: CL ads have been very good for me. I guess this is the price I pay.

It can be good. You're right. Just need to expect some scams, too.

Yeah I've seen that but it doesn't allow me to set a block on a specific email or portion of an email. That's what I need to do.

Why? It works. I've made some good money from my CL ads. I just want to be able to filter certain emails.

The scams are easy to spot. I guess I shouldn't be complaining too much. It takes me all of 10 seconds to delete the emails that I know are from other advertisers.

Can't do that. Most of the crap from CL's comes to my office email.

You can set gmail up just like outlook, all you need to know is your mail servers.

unless you're saying you can't because your office wont let you.

I work in enterprise IT, and there is a 99.9% chance his office's policy says forwarding e-mail to a third party would be grounds for dismissal. I've gotten people fired for smaller things.

I think I can change my CL response so that it will only come to a different email address. I'll put in a fake one. All the "real" clients contact me via my website anyway.

    Yep, just checked:

    Alternative contact methods:

If the poster has chosen not to be contacted via email, you will see "Reply to: see below" in place of the customary address.

Look for a phone number, fax number, website address, or street address in the body of the posting.
If the post does not contain any contact info, you can notify the poster by clicking the "send note" button at the bottom of the post.

I'll spell out my email addy or simply say "please contact me through my website"

CL has a method of this... the person must click on the link to actually create a mail. You'll usually get 1 spam, but so long as you dont reply you shouldnt get much more.

Also never type you email address out in the body of the text or any visible place that can be scanned by a bot. Like someone else said if you have to do that just spell it out entirely eg:

MyEmailAddress at MyHost dot Com. Kind of sucks and looks unprofessional but thats the woes of working on CL.

Also set up a filter in your mail application. I think in Entourage its under the Tools option. :dunno:
