WTF why don't they make Bright blue LED's?

    They make them and they are available.

    However, most major computer corporations will not use them because they cost more than your yellow or green LEDs.

    I've been rather involved in a new product launch over the past 7 months or so and in one of the meetings it was explained that while the designers wanted blue LEDs for this new product, it was not cost effective. I didn't know it made that much difference, but obviously, it does...

    I'm not going to go into the physics of it, suffice to say it took quite a while to develope a LED in the blue wavelength and the material required is much more expensive. There are some bright blue ones, but 10,000 mcd is pretty damn bright! Check a company called Chicago Miniature Lamp Co.
