There was a sale at my local Dick's Sporting Goods this week on ammo, so I stopped in to stock up on some slugs for hunting season, and some .22lr for plinking with my pistol. The slugs are out on the shelf, but the bricks of 22 ammo are behind the counter. So I asked the guy at the counter for a few bricks, and as he goes to grab he asks "Is this for your rifle or pistol?" SO I say my pistol, and he's like, "Oh... then I'm gonna have to see your permit to sell this to you." I'm just like WTF?!? Luckily I had my permit with me, because I wasn't carrying at the moment. This is the first time this has happened to me. What's the point?! If someone was buying it for an illegal pistol they'd just say it was for a rifle anyhow?! I asked the guy if he was aware how pointless and ridiculous it was to ask that... but he seemed to think it was a good policy. Has this ever happened to any of you?!
