I'm willing to bet the city sees a civil lawsuit real soon.

I'm still in shock after reading NRA and ACLU in the same sentence.

    I'm smelling a lawsuit

I'm glad to see them working together. Finally getting some respect as defending a civil liberty.

That's bullshit. He just bought it. Nevermind the debate over what constitutes "travelling" - you are allowed to transport a pistol for specific purposes including hunting, to/from the range, for repair, from place of purchase, and to a sale.

    :werd:

But without a CCW he couldn't have it "concealed" and he couldn't leave it on the seat because that's "brandishing." :ugh2:

If you're transporting a handgun for whatever purpose in a motor vehicle, it has to be concealed - ideally not on your person. There is no open carry of handguns in Texas with certain exceptions like hunting, shooting, in your residence, or on private property with the consent of the owner (during which times I believe that you can carry concealed).

that's exactly what I was thinking he was transporting from the point of purchase to his home, should be completely legal.

That happened in my town with a guy who was arrested because he was open carrying but the DA dropped the case because there was no grounds for arrest. afaik he never got his gun back as it was sent to state for "ballistic testing" or some bullshit

and I'm pretty sure this is all they care about. As many bad arrests as it takes to get more weapons out of the hands of citizens.
