Weapons cache seized at home in Greenville
Worried dad gets judge's approval; cops act

An arsenal of exotic weapons - including a sniper rifle, a spear and a set of 8-inch metal claws - were seized from a 23-year-old Jersey City man after his worried father called cops.

When South District cops responded to the Greenville home yesterday morning, they found the sniper rifle - with a powerful scope and a laser sight - as well as three Glock handguns and more than 1,200 rounds of ammunition, reports said. Among the bullets were illegal "hollow-point" rounds, police said.

In addition to the spear and metal claws, cops found a number of savage-looking knives, including one that had blades coming out of each end of its carved wooden handle.

The owner of the weapons lived with his father, his brother and two younger brothers, police said. The man's father found the weapons and, worried about the safety of his younger sons, filed a restraining order Friday against the 23-year-old, reports said.

Police arrived yesterday to serve the restraining order and seize the weapons, as ordered by the judge, reports said.

The man had been licensed to own the guns, but he isn't allowed to keep them under the court order, reports said.

    WTF?

So exactly what law was broken to allow cops to warrant issuing a restraining order and allowing cops to sieze everything?

And NJ made HPs illegal? God forbid law abiding licensed gun owners be able to own effective defensive ammo.

cops can sieze if you have a restraining order against you. As for getting a RO, its not that hard.

If you have a restraining order out against you, you cann't have any guns in your possesion, whats required in NJ to have one issued I dunno.

I don't know if NJ has a law against HP's wouldnt suprise me, its like little california, all high cap's are banned, I think AK's and AR's are banned as well.

Yeah, but what are the grounds for the fucking RO? It couldn't have been pre-existing if the dude was living in his dads house. So the cops show up, find a bunch of legally licensed guns, and fantasy knives and issue RO based on what?

God damn it that pisses me off. Society is turning into such a bunch of fucking panzie assed sissies.

8-inch metal claws? I bet it was some X-Men memorabilia. What a douche. I wonder if he even talked to his son first, and are you usually notified of a restraining order? Seems kind of hard to notify the guy, can't send him a letter to his house, it'd be in violation of his restraining order to go pick it up.

So basically if someone decides to fuck you over and hassle you all they have to do is issue a restraining order for a bullshit reason and there's nothing you can do about it? You have to give up your guns?

    No. Okay? No.
That still doesn't make sense to me on a legal level.

1.Guys lives with his father and and brothers. Owns guns.

    2. Father gets worried, proves to a judge that his son is a threat to the safety of his other sons, gets restraining order against him.

    3. Cops drop in and take all his stuff, despite him never breaking any laws in the first place.

That seems really shady to me, that they can just steal all your shit because of the say of someone else, without you ever getting to represent yourself in court.

Hopefully the ACLU will step in. Oh wait, they don't count that ammedment.

They might have left out parts of the story, but if it's what it sounds like the ACLU might represent him. I saw a story on a black lawyer from the ACLU that represented a part of the KKK. He said he didn't agree with their message but had to defend their right to say it. I think I'm being too much of an optimist though.:hs:

Hmm....if 3 handguns, one rifle, 1200 rounds of ammo (including HOLLOWPOINTS! :eek4: ) and a few knives constitute a weapons cache(although legal), I'd love to see what the media would think of all my shit. They'd probably consider me an arms dealer :noes: :run:
