Why can't CCW's carry in a post office? I mean I know there is a law against it, but why? I have a business PO Box and have to go in there just about every day to get the mail. So now I have to unholster and stash my gun in my car, go in get my mail, then reholster in the car. It's a PITA.

This reminds me of the saying:

"If you do something right no one will know"

    As in:

"If you carry right nobody will know"

My life is worth more then the $25 fine here in MN (no permit loss)

true but as an example. I'd carry on a college campus even though some state say you aren't supposed to but.... Breaking a federal law I give a shit about. I feel the same why as you do but federal is federal.

I worked for the government in it and working some othe rplace and taking pens and shit home is one thing but taking pens from a federal office is serious jailtime.

About colleges... Not true. Campus policy my dear friend. You can be expelled/fired (if you're a teacher). So if you're just passing through... what are they gonna do? Expel you? At least here in MN. (I don't look up many other states though)

In other words: It's campus policy. If you're not a student they can't do shit. If you are a student the most they can do is expel you.

My carry permit teacher put it best (retired cop):

(not word for word but the best I can remember): "You have decided to take your life into your own hands... if you happen across a school what are you gonna do? Possibly face a $25 fine and not lose your permit or risk your life possibly?"

I'm actually not sure what the fine here in WA is, but I wouldn't screw with Federal laws.

BTW, in WA, it isn't just campus policy.

my bank has a branch in a local wal-mart. if i need to make a deposit, i'll be damned if i leave my xd in my car, walk into the bank, go back to my car and come back in to shop. now if i go into a normal bank (in it's own building) i'll leave it in my car.

as for the campus thing, i think it's a state by state law.

As far as banks go... if I go to a bank it's to make a large deposit or withdraw (over at least 1k) and I'll be damed if they prohibit me from protecting myself during the transaction and going to my car with thousands of dollars. Luckily the two banks I conduct business with don't prohibit me from carrying. I'd quickly withdraw all accounts and find a new bank if that were the case.

The campus thing... That really sucks. I feel as though you should be able to protect your person no matter where you are.

here is my question. I will be going from pa to las vegas to hawaii. I plan on taking a good amount of cash with me to gamble and then to hawaii. I'm thinking of taking my gun with me so this will be the first time taking my gun with me to travel. has anyone does this before?

I know that Hawaii isn't gun friendly AT ALL. I'd be really careful taking a hand gun there without having all your ducks in a row first. :noes:

I may be mistaken but I believe hawaii has some retarded gun laws. You'd probably be wise to research them before you bring it
    http://www.packing.org/state/hawaii/ should get you started

not a fine here. felony to carry in federal buildings.

and schools big nono, BUT universities/colleges (private) are subject to WAC or school policy, and usually only come with a fine. dont be an idiot and quote me on this though.... im not an attorney.

Can you blame them? Post Offices don't really have the greatest track record when it comes to people bringing guns inside.

I've carried most places so far. But, since I don't have my IWB holster yet, it's a little harder to conceal it. Luckily, my bank allows us to carry.
