I'm not looking for a job. I'm quite pleased with my workload and my coworkers. I see no reason to change up for what would almost certainly be a less-satisfying position.

At the age of 29/30 I've found my job that I would be glad to retire in or even die in. Actually, I've found an employer that I would be glad to give the rest of my life to.

I am most certainly not looking for a job. I don't think any amount of money will take me away and noone's benefits, not even google's can match my employer's.

I'm pretty lucky that I found this job because at the time, I wasn't looking for one!

Work for a company with billions in yearly revenue spread among 200 employees. :)

I also got my job when I "wasn't looking". What 5Gen meant was that you shouldn't be blind to a good opportunity when it comes along.

Already at a company/university that has that. They spread it different ways of course. Plus I am not worked like a slave either.

Fortunately I've already found it and I don't think there's anything better except for winning the lottery.

That, and employers are smart enough not to go out of their way to keep you if you say you're a lifer.

What about running the lottery? :big grin:

I'm consulting for a company that really takes care of its normal employees. If I get in long-term with them, I'll be in a very good situation.

So .net is for software development?

Is it, or does it entail, a specific program language?

We'll they are not going out of their way to do anything. They offer these perks for all of their employees, from bottom to top. Higher tiers get more or larger perks. It just the mentality of this place. What's funny about lifers is that more people here die/retire than get fired/quit. Every year they have an annual party for people that retired within the last year and they have an annual ceremony for employees that passed away. I've never seen this before.

The people who have it the best here are the l33t professors. Huge paychecks, new buildings built just for them, bleeding edge equipment, FREE million dollar mansions - tax free... In fact one of the early co-authors of C, UNIX, and AWK, has a house that is right next to my building. He's the K in AWK.

How did your ZFS tests go? You said you had a box setup to do performance tests.

didn't do any performance tests yet. just functionality tests on a couple t2k's. don't think i'll doing anything with them for a while performance-wise since the oracle group is going down the linux path with vxfs.

i do have a t2k w/ a fully populated storedge 3200. they want it zoned out with zfs as well. we probably won't fully deploy zfs until one can boot from it.
