WTF is wrong with my cd rom drive thinggy

    when ever i put in a program disk(like the disk to a game) it wont work in my normal cd rom drive, i have to put it in my cd burner drive in order for it to work. how can i get it back to normal so i can put cd's into my normal cd rom drive and have them work. the computer is an emachines:)wtc:) it has 512 mb or ram and a 60 gig hd and im running win xp if it matters.

    could be a defective drive. Try swapping a new one to see for sure.

    Can you browse to the drive in My Computer, when there is a disc in it and open any files on the CD?

    I could be the autorun has been turned off, the game is confused about which drive it needs the disc in (usually, it has to be in the one that the game was installed from), or it could be broken. It happens, they do break.

    Have you EVER had something break on you? A pencil? your car? SOMETHING? If not, you're one lucky son-of-a-bitch... But I'll be happy to introduce you to my friend mr. reality. And when mr. reality is around, things break. They worked at one point, but now they don't. It happens. :mamoru:

    Just replace the cd-rom. They're cheap.
