I started working out in November of 2007. It is now more than a year later and I haven't seen any significant gains and/or muscle increase.

After reading through some of the threads I may not be eating enough. Do I need to eat a lot more? Also should I not be feeling sore the next few days from working that muscle group? The last few months I've been fine the next day and haven't been hurting. Do I need to more sets and reps?

    Here is my break down:

    Monday: Back
5 different machines with 4 sets and 10 reps.
    Tuesday: Shoulders
5 different machines with 4 sets and 10 reps.
    Wednesday: Off
    Thursday: Chest
6 different machines with 4 sets and 10 reps.
    Friday: Arms
6 different machines with 4 sets and 10 reps.

    Food:

    Breakfast:
    25g whey protein
    Oatmeal
    Lunch:
Quizno's (Chicken) or Rumbi Grill (Chicken & Rice)
    2:30 Snack
    2 tbps Peanutbutter
    Dinner:
Mexican (cheat meal, once per week)
    Chicken
    Rice
    Salad
    25g protein

    Breakdown:

    2000 Cals
    74g fat
    188g Carbs
    151g Protein

Use both the routine and diet in the sticky. Both are light years better than what he is doing now.

    Oh, is that so :ugh:.

Machines supply load to muscles through a range of motion, just like free weights. The only difference is the stability offered by the machines.

1- search and follow the Westside for Skinny Bastards program
2- do a 40/30/30 diet starting at 3000 calories; eat 5 meals a day and split your macros evenly on each meal on off days; on days post workout carbs = 1.5 your per meal amt and your last meal = .5 amt of carbs in a regular meal
3- start weighing out all your food and counting every carb/fat/protein gram in the food until you get a good feel for it and can do it in your head

this is all you will need to do for 1-3 years

when you stop gaining weight, increase your calories by 250 and stick to the 40/30/30 split
