When I was living in the US I had things pretty nicely prior to fucking them up. The only thing was that I always felt I needed more things(bigger house, faster car..that type of stuff). Since I've moved here I have yet to experience that. I am extremely happy, living with the love of my life, and have a good job with the prospect of starting a kick ass career right around the corner.

Lately though, I sit at work and remember when I would come home after work in the US and chill in my house by myself and watch tv/play on the computer. Sundays taking my bike out all day and even been missing the occasional weekends where I would sit in my driveway washing my car/motorcycle while listening to the radio.

    Why is this happening?

Sounds like you are just a little homesick to me... it seems normal. Maybe homesick isn't the right word though... missing your old routines/activities? Nostalgic thoughts seem normal though.

I can understand this happening 6 months after I left...but it's been almost 3 years now.

I love how the things you listed as "missed" were all consumer-based items/activities. That is all this country is good for, using up resources - still I can see why you'd miss that.

Sounds like you're not a lazy brainwashed American anymore lol, but the last vestiges of your former persona are still biting at you. :o

Maybe you are under some kind of stress at work or similar and your brain is playing tricks on you showing you what you left behind for *this* (even though *this* is better than that)

How is going riding on a sunday, washing my car on a weekend, or coming home after work and just sitting around watching TV consumer based items?

I'm not really bored though. Almost every weekend my girl and I are doing something different. I'm not just sitting around at home doing nothing. That's why I'm confused as to why I am feeling these things.

No. He won't put down roots and feel at home if he keeps moving. There is no place on earth where people will welcome you with open arms, outside of a support group anyway. You have to establish a place for yourself in the community by investing yourself in the community.

Question for the threadstarter: why are the things you used to do in your free time no longer satisfying? Have your interests really changed that much, or have you forgotten why you used to like them, or was it really the people you did them with that mattered to you?

Doing those things is not possible at the moment. Reasons being I lack a car, a motorcycle, and a house with a driveway.

No. I'm not stable enough in one place yet to buy anything too pricy. Hell, I won't even build another computer system because of it.
