WTF. i think my hdd is dying

    My computer sometimes doesnt recognize the harddrive when I turn it on:ugh:... but i try after like 5 times then it does recognize it. what the fuck is wrong with it

    It could possibly be a bad hard drive. Most hard drive manufacturers offer a diagnostic tool on their website that you can download, that you can then run to test the drive. I would start with that. Less likely, the IDE controller on the motherboard could be intermittent.

    Its a pretty old hard drive though...

    Check the power cord going to the HD. I took mine and had to squeeze them tighter, b/c they werent making a good enough connectiong. Since then i hadnt had a problem. But it could also be a bad HD. I would suggest finding a diagnostic tool.

    Run the drive tools on it, check the power and data cables.

    Backup your important info just in case.
