I think this is the first time I've viewed WMD in about 2 months now... I miss it. :wtc:

If anyone cares, I'm now in Austin and will be (hopefully) joining the Austin Rifle Club. :naughty: Gotta see how horrible of a shooter I am at 350 yards. :mamoru:

Moved from Charleston, SC to SA, TX. Holidays came around. Moved from SA, TX to Austin, TX. Started new job. Finally getting situated...

Also, being that I have plenty of student loans to pay back and other stupid bills, I'm trying not to fork out another ~$35 a month for internet since my apartment complex has a 24hr access computer room... just haven't had the time to. :wtc:

  5. No unsecured wireless to hop on?

  6. Or find someone still using WEP and just break into their connection.

I am just out of range of the free wireless the main apartment building has... I got a wireless extender and that didn't do anything for me at all. I should probably get a better antenna for the extender but I haven't got around to figuring out which one to get.

You live near a window? Also what router? You know where there main antenna is? I can tell you which antenna to get just depends on alot of variables

What kind of match is going on out there Sunday? Did I hear something about IPDA or USPSA competitions going on out there? I'd like to get into that eventually (once I get the proper gear).

I'm not sure about the wireless info butI'll try to find out about it later. It'd be nice not having to go to the clubhouse for internet. :)

Nope just expect to actually buy decent equipment.

I use to have a trucking company hooked up by wifi at 5.2miles.

  18. I have a bunch of Cisco Aironet 1200 and 1242 access points around a 12 acre lumberyard. I'm using a combination of antenna styles arranged to give the best possible coverage. The antennas are placed at heights to maximize their coverage and avoid being blocked by materials. Stacks of lumber and metal racks absorb and deflect the signal so badly that 8 APs barely give us adequate coverage.

I think the 350yd range is the longest. It's just east of Austin on 290 in Manor.

We don't have open carry, but I'd rather have the gun laws and use of force laws over open carry anyday.

This is when LOS antennas, connected to a smaller AP would be better.

Oh Cisco Aironet suck really in terms of wifi there mW output is worse than a hacked WRT54g. I would look at a Bountiful BWRG1000 if you need coverage. That plus a 24dbi grid antenna hooked up to the primary router and a flat panel 14dbi antenna on the inside should easily cover that.

Where the heck do you work MG? Because you are talking my language right now with all of this Cisco equipment. I have a warehouse filled with APs, antenna's, 6xxx network chassis, etc...

I remember back in High school when I was in my CCNA class they had us test the network to see if we could get it to crash. Took us about 10mins :o

I am just starting on CCNA. I have all of the available equipment so that I can have a mock up network to fiddle around with. Kinda fun.

I never renewed mine, got out of the IT business. Seriously hated that life, i remember one time our cleaning crew blew up our fiber back bone because they sprayed the shit with an aerosol cleaner and it short circuited the whole board and blew it up. Why the fuck they gave the cleaning crew keys to the server room I still dont know
