Tax returns finally rolled around, but I'm trying to be frugal about it...:hs:

    Used 430EX vs. 2 Vivitar 285HV's?

Should I drop the coin on the Canon quality or shoot bang for your buck with the Vivitars?

Keep in mind I'm working towards compiling my first small flash gig.

Oh and I need to do some more homework on flash setups all together... so any input would be appreciated.:wiggle:

if you're setting up remote flashes anyhow, don't buy a 430ex.

285HVs if you can afford the stands and whatnot to go with them.

Can you connect a 285HV directly to the hotshoe on a 350D? I'm not sure how it all works out with the voltage and such.:noes:

I wanna be able to set up remotes, but being able to attach the flash on camera would be a nice plus.

I think that may be a minute or two down the road, I'll probably be using clamps and bungees for the moment being. :hs:

Yes, you can mount it on the hotshoe. I sold my 430ex and bought 3 flashes to replace it.

MPEX has a sale right now on the LumoPro 10' air cushioned stands. 3 for $99.

I picked up 3 the other day, along with the Westcott umbrellas.

If I had to do it all over again, I would've gone the Vivitar route. Instead, I bought a 420EX, 580EX, 430EX.

Oh and I'm on the hunt for a used Canon 50mm f/1.8 II if anyone has one lying around.

I've been borrowing my friend's for almost a month and its past time to give it back. :hs:

a new one costs ~ $75. You'd save about $15 buying used... just buy a new one.
